CHALLENGE

Setting the scene for the new pinnacle of luxury in Canggu.  How do we create an influential 5 star resort in a less developed location of Bali?

ROLE

As the Project Architect Scott was responsible for the planning and coordination of the design documentation of a project during Schematic through Construction Document phases in conjunction with a Project Manager. The role entails extensive technical architectural knowledge the construction administration phase, managing the project team as well as coordinating with clients, consultants and contractors. 

The Journey

Over a 9 month period, in consultation with both stakeholders and many specialist consultants, the Intercontinental Canggu design was developed as the most advanced hotel in Bali with efficient operational planning, a captivating guest experience and places that would create memorable experiences that the Intercontinental hotels are famous.

Intercontinental brand is a promise to guests of the ultimate experience in luxury.   The design team had to always be mindful of experience from the arrival to the journey to the guest-rooms. The finest details were always key to our comprehensive design.

Design

Tough site constraints allowed limited build-able area, the question was how do we design 142 5 star rooms onto a site that may not have sea views.  The solution was to creating a village  atmosphere within the resort allowed greater use of the dense site.
